Bring an unwrapped baby gift or a financial donation to benefit local crisis pregnancy centers. “Stir into flame the gift of God that you have. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:6-7 Isn’t it amazing to think of all the unique individuals God has created? Each one of us is handcrafted in His own image with our own set of unique talents and gifts. No two people, even the closest identical twins, are exactly alike or share the same purpose in life. God has given you a special gift. Do not look at what someone else is doing and feel like you should be doing the same thing in the same way. Instead “stir into flame” YOUR own special gift. Maybe it is a gift for speaking, for listening, for prayer, for counsel, for guidance, for following, for teaching, for service, or whatever you feel called to do. Do it with power, love, and discipline for the greater glory of God. For God certainly has not given us pro-lifers a spirit of timidity! News from the last two weeks’ Forest View vigils: ** On Thursday, Feb. 10, it was -5 degrees when the vigil began. Still the warmth of God shone brightly as TWO women chose LIFE. - The first couple was leaving Forest View when we got a chance to talk with them. They rolled down their window, and I could see the woman had an ultrasound picture in her hand. She proudly showed me the picture of her 5 ½ week old baby and we looked in amazement at the spine so clearly visible. They said they knew about the Women’s Center but took a brochure anyway. Tia and Richard were practically glowing with joy. We can all be too! Here’s why: Most ultrasound techs. at abortion clinics are instructed NOT to show the ultrasound picture to the woman (much less give her a copy of it!). The Spirit is at work inside Forest View! Please continue to pray for all the employees of abortion clinics, but especially for the ultrasound technicians. - The second couple stopped to talk before entering the clinic. The young woman, Jen, is 22 years old and her African American boyfriend told me they were worried about the lifestyle change with having a baby. They stood and listened as I talked and took the pamphlets I offered, but they entered the clinic anyway. However, not even ½ hour later they got in the car and left! Pray for their courage and strength. ** Sadly, we estimate SEVEN other women chose to have their babies killed that same day. ** On Thursday, Feb. 17th, the weather was much improved and God blessed us again to witness a life saved. - A mother and daughter spoke to two of our counselors at different times. They left before the abortionist ever arrived. Praise to God! ** Again, we estimated SEVEN babies lost their lives in the abortion mill that day. ** There is still much construction in front of Forest View, so if you don’t see the signs right away, rest assured that we are there praying every Thursday. We’re probably just hidden behind construction horses! News about your spiritually adopted baby: ** Happy Birthday, Baby! Pray for an easy labor and delivery for Mom as she brings this bundle of joy into the world. Thank you for your faithful prayers throughout the last nine months. You will always have a special connection to this child, known only to God and you… until you meet in Heaven! For those of you who didn’t adopt with us this time, we’ll be passing out new spiritual adoption cards at the Baby Shower/Kick-Off Party. So here’s your chance! “My soul may sing praise to You and not be silent O LORD my God; I will give thanks to You forever.” Psalm 30:12
Here are a few recent news items. The New York City Department of Health recently reported that upwards of 41% of all pregnancies end in abortion. Nationally, 19.6% of all pregnancies end in abortion. Planned Parenthood receives over $350 million of your tax dollars each year – nearly one-third of its funding comes directly from taxpayers. The Guttmacher Institute, a research arm of the abortion lobby, announced that the national abortion rate rose for the first time since 1990. So what do all those statistics have to do with singing praise and thanks to God? It is in our darkest hours often that we most deeply feel the comforting presence of God. God has not abandoned us or our country. He is waiting, always there, ready to offer strength in time of weakness, comfort in times of sadness, and joy in times of triumph! Yes, those statistics are horrific. Still it is up to you and me to not be silent in these times. Speak out to others that our God is good! He has died and risen again for our salvation. Turn your face to feel the warmth of God’s love. The last two updates have talked about prayer: The first discussed prayer for others and then prayer for yourself. This week let’s all spend some time with Alleluia’s shouting out praise for the God of all LIFE! |
