“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others.” (Philippians 2:4)
This Bible verse is a powerful tool when we are faced with the argument, “Well, I would never have an abortion, but who am I to tell others what to do?” or “This is none of your business.” Every Christian is called by God to be His hands and feet in the world and one way we do this is by looking out for and protecting the most vulnerable in society. The vulnerable unborn cannot speak for themselves. The women seeking abortions often believe they have no other choice, making them vulnerable to the “easy” solution of abortion. The fathers of these children may even be vulnerable as they are told by the culture that they have no say; it is a woman’s choice and right. Hopefully, you won’t be faced with this argument, but if you are, ask if that person donates to any charities that help vulnerable people and explain that this is no different. Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League (http://prolifeaction.org/about/eric.php), encourages pro-lifers to find common ground with a person in opposition and maybe this will be the fertilizer to plant a seed! News from the last two Thursday vigils in Wood Dale: ** On Thursday, August 7, we estimate that FIVE children were killed at Advantage Health Care in Wood Dale. ** A car arrived with one man (late 20’s), two young women (20’s), and a very cute dog. The two women went inside surrounded by the two ICAT escorts. They did not even have a chance to hear about the free help available at CareNet, just one block west of the abortion mill. However, the man, Carl, stayed outside with the dog. During this time I made several attempts at conversation. I was surprised at how misinformed and steeped in lies this man was. After several hours during which time I offered help to Carl, encouraged him to help the young woman, and begged him to take a Project Rachel brochure for her counseling after the abortion, he told me that he “knew” we would just make fun of the women and call them “murderers.” I was really shocked that he could think this after watching us interact with love and respect with everyone there that morning, including the ICAT escorts. Although I did not get to see the young woman come out after her abortion, I did finally manage to get the girl’s female friend to take a Project Rachel brochure despite Carl’s objections. This made it very clear to me that we need to be consciously aware of making every effort to be the loving face of God at the clinics. Only with God’s love shining through can we overcome these false judgments people make about “those radical anti-abortion folks.” Yes, we are radical – radically committed to spreading the truth about God’s love, hope, and forgiveness. ** On Thursday, August 14, we estimate that THREE women chose to end the life of their own child. ** An Asian couple in their 20’s came out of the clinic around 8:00 am before the doctor arrived. They were visibly upset and walked out past the ICAT escorts to the sidewalk, allowing us the opportunity to approach them. They were reluctant to talk but the woman appeared very sad. She took the brochure offering free help but then the ICAT escorts quickly called them back to the clinic where the young girl started crying. The escorts ushered her back into the clinic. Please pray for the conversion of the ICAT escorts and for the healing of this young couple. ** We thought there might have been a save that day. Birdianna and Alma are cousins in their early 20’s. Alma has an 18 month old son and does not feel ready to have another child. They pulled into the clinic around 9:30. I happened to be right at the entrance as they pulled in and, since the ICAT escorts leave at 8:15, I was able to get them to stop and chat. They were very interested in the free services offered by CareNet and took all the information I gave, but decided they still wanted to “check out” the clinic. They parked and walked in with Alma’s precious son in her arms. About 1 minute later they exited telling me that the clinic did not allow children. Birdianna looked at me and I said, “You know why, right?” She nodded and affirmed to Alma that she would help her through this pregnancy. ** I texted them later and learned that Alma was not actually pregnant after all. Our prayer now is that this experience will awaken in Alma a desire to treat her body with respect. Another positive outcome is that these women have seen the abortion business for what it is, anti-child, and they now know of the vast amount of authentically helpful resources for women in need. ** On Thursday, August 21, we estimate that THREE unique, unrepeatable human babies were lost. ** One man named Mitch dropped off a young woman in her 20’s and then sat in his parked car in the lot. Our sidewalk counselors pleaded with him to save the life of his child. He told them that he has a child with another woman and this one is “just a fetus.” This dehumanization of humans is sadly nothing new. It happened with slavery, the Holocaust, and more. To read an interesting article that may help when you are faced with these types of arguments: http://blog.abolishhumanabortion.com/2012/06/dehumanization-101.html Pray for These Wood Dale Employees - Nancy: Office manager and post-abortive woman - Dr. Goyal: owner and operator of Wood Dale and 3 other suburban and 1 Chicago abortion mill - *Marisela: Listed as “Medical Records,” She has been sarcastic to us in the past, often sent out to bring unsure women back in. - Eugene: Orderly/POC. We believe POC stands for “Product of Conception,” which is how abortion clinics refer to babies. This job may require him to reassemble the aborted babies’ precious bodies to make sure no parts were left inside the mother. - *Jocelyn: works behind the front desk. Started on May 22. - *Jessica: Newer employee took over as cashier when Carmen quit. * Starred have a copy of the Abby Johnson letter. You can print a copy of the letter here:www.attwn.org/wp-content/themes/attwn-child/images/attwn-onepage-lightbackground.pdf.
