“They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” Acts 1:14
In the early times of the church, the new believers recognized the power of praying together. In fact, the Bible tells us “they joined together constantly in prayer”. Clearly, they not only saw great value in praying to God but in praying together. This is one of the beautiful truths about praying beside our fellow brothers and sisters outside an abortion facility. Whether we are Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical, or any other religion, we unite in the defense of these precious unborn and their families. For me, it is food for my soul to stand shoulder to shoulder with prayer partners. Whether we are praying the Our Father, singing hymns, reading from the Bible, or even simply standing in silence, I can find incredible comfort and peace alongside by family in Christ. A group called Bible Prayer Fellowship (www.praywithchrist.org) writes, “True, we can play privately, but we must also come together expecting to find one accord in prayer. We are related to Christ and each other like the members of our natural body are. We are one family. We pray to ‘OUR Father.’ Someone once said that it is unnatural for the children in a family to always meet with their father separately and never know a shared relationship with him.” If you are a regular prayer warrior, we thank God for you. If you have never been out to pray at a clinic, there is no time better than the summer. Please check the attached vigil schedule and share a prayer with your brothers and sisters in Christ! GOOD NEWS FROM THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES! Yesterday, the House passed House Bill #1797 which will prohibit abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy based on the fact that babies feel such excruciating pain during abortions. We must give praise to God and ask for a miracle that it will make it to the Senate. President Obama has threatened to veto if the Bill gets to him, but what he can never veto is the change of heart that is happening in members of Congress or the eyes that are being opened by testimony presented! Read more here: www.lifenews.com/2013/06/18/congress-passes-bill-banning-late-term-abortions-after-20-weeks/ News from the last three Thursday vigils: ** On Thursday, May 30 we estimate that ONE child lost his life at a “medical clinic” in Wood Dale. ** We were blessed with many positive honks from passers-by. One young woman even crossed the busy street to encourage us and tell us that she was pro-life. The youth of this country are becoming more and more aware that abortion kills innocent babies. ** On Thursday, June 6, we estimate that TWO women chose to stop the beating heart of their children in the womb. ** On this day we noticed that one of the young female employees who had been coming to work for years dressed up in business attire, came to work in scrubs. We fear that instead of being “just administration,” she is now being pulled into directly assisting in the murder of the children. Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood director explains the creepy process clinics use here: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/i-still-grieve-former-abortion-workers-find-healing-at-retreat-with-abby-jo This employee does not even look our way when we reach out to her. Please pray for her and her own child who is not yet a year old. We watched last year as she would come to work at the clinic all throughout her pregnancy. ** On Thursday, June 13 (Our first Thursday back at Forest View since it closed down for renovations 10 weeks earlier), we estimate that FOUR of God’s precious ones were murdered. ** Our 7:00 am counselor Terry got to speak to, or “at,” three of the groups that arrived that day: an older couple with a young girl who may have been their teen daughter, a young black couple with heads downcast, three teen girls who rushed in together. Sadly, none of them would stop to actually hear about the hope and love begin offered freely to them. We pray for their hearts to be opened to healing in the future.
