“God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Corinthians 1: 9 -10
Indeed we pro-lifers are called into fellowship with one another through our Lord Jesus Christ. That spirit of unity is one of the most amazing things about 40 Days for Life. It brings together the Body of Christ, regardless of faith community, for the important cause of all - LIFE!
There is a powerful presence when those of different faiths stand side by side in prayerful witness for the unborn. One on-line commentator (http://www.christnotes.org/commentary.php?com=mhc&b=46&c=1 ) writes about this Bible passage, “Where there is not unity of sentiment, still let there be union of affection. Agreement in the greater things should extinguish divisions about the lesser.” And there is nothing greater than the protection of LIFE, the defenseless lives at stake at an abortion clinic. So we must put our differences aside and stand in “union of affection” for one another and for the common cause. Finally the author points out, “There will be perfect union in heaven, and the nearer we approach it on earth, the nearer we come to perfection.”
Let us strive to approach that perfection by celebrating with joy all followers of Christ from more than 100 different faith communities who united to participate in this Lent’s 40 Days for Life campaign. Come to the Closing Ceremony this Sunday at Dimensions (1455 E. Golf Rd., Des Plaines) 6:30 pm. See more info. below.
News from last week’s Forest View vigil:
** FOUR women made the “choice” to have their child killed. As sad as this is, it is a marked decrease from the usual 8 – 10 abortions on most Thursdays of the last few months. 40 Days for Life has brought so many more people out to pray and each person DOES make a difference!
** One man who dropped off his girlfriend for an abortion told us he “appreciated” what we were doing, but they had “made up their minds.” We continue to pray that God who can do all things can open minds like his and the mind of all of those people who see abortion as a way out of a difficult situation. They don’t realize that this choice may make every situation more difficult for the rest of their lives.
News from 40 Days - Chicago Suburbs:
** We were blessed by the presence of so many “first-timers” at Forest View in Des Plaines during the last week. It can be hard to take that leap of faith and step outside your comfort zone. But many of them told us how glad they are that they did!
**The vigil continues this week every day from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm at Dr. Goyal’s other Des Plaines clinics, Dimensions, 1455 E. Golf Rd.
** There is still time to get involved! If you are a would-be “first-timer,” don’t let the campaign end before you make that first step. We still need hours covered at Dimensions this Thursday from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. And on Sunday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. News about your spiritually adopted baby:
** This is week 6 of life for your little one. His brain is now divided into 3 parts – one to experience emotion and understand language, one for hearing, and one for seeing. And the eyes are even developing color in the retina! One of the most famous pictures of a preborn infant is at six weeks. Click here to see this tiny person http://www.lovematters.com/babypics.htm . Please remember to pray for your spiritually adopted baby and those around him every day. Your baby is counting on you! To spiritually adopt a baby, pick up a brochure in the vigil kit or go online at www.spiritualadoption.org.
