“But those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Although this verse is in one of my favorite church songs, I never took the time to really dig into it. At Borrowed Light website, they write, "Isaiah was writing to a despondent Jewish people. They have been in exile for some 70 years. They feel abandoned and have given up hope that the God of justice will act." I feel like, right now, that fits us Illinoisans perfectly! We have been watching our state become the abortion destination of the Midwest for years (Maybe not quite 70!). I'm sure there are many good folks who wonder if God will ever act to bring justice. However, it is times like these that give us, God's hands and feet, unparalleled opportunity to act! More and more people are joining the fight. There is no more "middle ground;" people must choose a side. We will not become weary! Not now. Not ever. We will soar on wings like eagles to offer help to women in need, counsel others about the truth about abortion, and actively be the voice for the unborn. News from January and February vigils in Wood Dale: ** During the months of January and February, we estimate that 113 children were killed at their mothers' request. ** However, 3 brave women chose LIFE! One of the women, "D," came out around 10:00 am. Sometimes women are already leaving at this time, especially those who receive the abortion pill, RU486. So when I saw her exit, I wasn't sure if she was post-abortive. The smile on her face and open demeanor, however, gave her away! She chose LIFE and was on the phone sharing the news with her husband who was overjoyed! D was dropped off by Uber at the clinic at the urging of her mother and mother-in-law who told her she couldn't handle a 4th child and they wouldn't help her. But this brave woman resisted this pressure! When I asked her what changed her mind, she said it was the ultrasound. Shocked that she would see it, I asked for clarification. She told me that the clinic did not show it to her, but the memory of having ultrasounds with her three other children touched her mother's heart. I have been in contact with her through text and she needs our prayers. The family does not have insurance. I am working to get them connected with Avenue Women's Center in Wood Dale to get the support they need. Please pray D will accept all the help we would love to offer. ** We met a new employee, Jake, who came right over to speak to us when he was outside in back of the clinic on a smoke break. He told me that the abortionist explained that he only does abortions because he used to see so many women come into the hospital after trying to self-abort with coat hangers. You and I both know this is untrue. Former abortionist, Bernard Nathanson, admits that he and the co-founders of NARAL made up the numbers of "coat hanger" abortions back in 1973. Read more here. But rather than contradict this young man who very sincerely believed he was helping women, I asked if he had any prior experience with abortion. He opened up that his girlfriend had aborted his child and the relationship soon ended because she blamed him for it. He seemed genuinely sad and yet he somehow didn't make the connection that now he was helping others to inflict that same pain on more men and women. I gave him a Project Rachel brochure and encouraged him to call. Please pray for him. ** Are you feeling called to join a prayer vigil at a clinic but nervous to take that first step? Please email or call us. We were once just like you! We would love to offer information, advice, and support. Maria: [email protected] or Laura: 847-651-4877. Pray for These Abortion Employees
