“We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.” 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3
In the last update we focused on fasting as a way to grow closer to God.Of course, prayer is also a blessed opportunity to build a stronger relationship with our Heavenly Father. Indeed, fasting and prayer are linked. You can have prayer without fasting, but you cannot have fasting without prayer. We are often asked if we think our prayers to end abortion really make a difference. You may have even doubted whether you are accomplishing anything by your own personal prayers during these 40 Days for Life or beyond. The bottom line is that we are all united.Just as they did in the early Christian communities, we must continually lift each other up in prayer and thank God that we are united in Christ who strengthens us. As a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, you certainly are needed in our prayer community. You cannot build a church without each individual brick. It is brick by brick, prayer by prayer that we have begun to move this mountain of abortion. But we pray not to change God’s mind but to change our disposition. Every time you lift your heart up to God in prayer you not only acknowledge His power, but also your willingness to submit to that power. Imagine a lamp that is not plugged in.How can it shed any light? You are that lamp. Every time you pray you “plug” into the ultimate source of power, our Lord Jesus Christ. As you allow yourself to be changed (and charged!) by prayer, you will become that light for the world! We thank God for you and will keep you in our prayers. “180” A NEW PRO-LIFE FILM:Share with your friends as part of community outreach for 40 Days for Life.
